Guest web08
If you think, your business can reach new limits by just having an online presence, you are rather naïve. Basically, just creating a website is not enough; you need to make sure it ranks well on major search engines. For achieving good page ranking, webmasters employ various SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques, namely, White hat and Black hat SEO techniques. Black hat SEO techniques are ways to get higher page ranking, unethically. Regardless of using top black hat SEO techniques, your site is prone to more risks than the temporary benefits. Your site can get banned for using black hat SEO techniques. Following are some of the top black hat SEO techniques, to help you know, if your SEO specialists are using the right type of SEO techniques for your site, or not. 1. Keyword Stuffing: When your site contains nothing, but loads of keywords, regardless of whether they naturally fit in the sentences or not, is one of the top black hat SEO techniques, used by a lot of webmasters. Search engines are pretty sharp now; they spot such keyword stuffing and normally penalize the site. Keyword usage, no wonder is important for increasing page ranking on search engines, but moderation is the key. Too much of anything is never going to take you anywhere. The right way is to use the keywords strategically. 2. Invisible Text: You may think writing keywords in white and smaller font against a white background, will help you in increasing the search engine ranking. But the fact is, such techniques get detected by the search engine spiders, sooner than you think; and once, they do get detected, your site is likely to get banned. Moreover, people sometimes tend to insert long lists of keywords below their web page, so that the search engine spiders could index the page quickly, which is wrong as well. 3. Doorway Pages: Doorway pages are basically phony pages that do not contain any genuine content of their own. Their sole purpose is to attract the attention of search engine spiders; basically, having links to the destination pages. You will normally find advertisements and various URLs of other sites on the doorway pages. The webmasters do this in hope of sending the traffic to their site. But since search engines do not like this practice of webmasters, the sites usually get penalized for using black hat SEO techniques. 4. Posting Spam Comments: This is also among some of the most used and top black hat SEO techniques. In this particular technique, webmasters post large number of spam comments with their site’s URL in various blogs, forums, etc, irrespective of whether the forum or blog is related to their site or not. This is also unethical practice of increasing your site’s ranking, you need to avoid.
