Hello,
Disavowing links helps you keep your backlink profile clean so Google can give your web page the search engine ranking it deserves. There are some links that will hurt your site's SEO if you don't remove them. The #1 reason you should disavow a link is because it's spammy or low quality.

The disavow tool should only be used if you know you have sketchy links pointing at your site. The disavow tool can be a potent tool that Google offers, allowing you to increase your site's rankings. It can potentially remove tons of toxic links that are weighing your site's rankings down from reaching the top. It's easy to get carried away with the disavow tool.

Disavowing allows you to require action against spammy, unnatural links to your website that you simply can't get removed, like by contacting the webmasters of these sites. once you disavow links, you tell Google to not count or consider these links when assessing your website for its search index and rankings.
