Difference between automatic and managed placements?

With managed placement, you're handpicking the top blogs and websites in your target area to show your Google Ads. In this scenario, you are confident in your local knowledge of the top publishers in your state or locality.

With automatic placement, you are telling Google to pick for you based on topic, affinity or keyword semblance to the content of your website or mobile app. Google is going to select a wide range of website publishers based on the data it has on them. This is often not accurate but it saves a lot of time especially when you have no knowledge of the top publishers in your target area.

Hi,
Manual placements give the option the choose the specific websites, location, video, apps in which you can show your Google AdWords ad. Automatic placements is another placement method which automatically shows your ads and you won’t have the option to choose.

Managed Placements – Placement targeting lets AdWords advertisers choose individual spots in the Google content network where they’d like to see their ads displayed.  These are basically individual sites that you want your ads to appear on.

Automatic Placements – Locations or domains on the Display Network where your ads can show, which are automatically matched to your keywords and/or other targeting methods.
