XML and HTML Sitemaps are designed for different purposes as XML sitemap is specially designed for the search engines as it is submitted to the webmaster tools for crawling the website. Whereas, HTML sitemap is designed for humans as they can clearly see it on the website as an extra web page and all the visitors of the website can make use of it for understanding the website.

HTML site map is where you can find other subpages of the website if you can't find them in navigation bars like contact us page social media links and other widgets..
XML site map is used by spiders and crawlers to crawl your website. It contains everything like all the URLs mentioned in your website, when some URL was updated, optimization and other behind stuff.
Hope this information is helpful to you.

Sitemaps are generally of two types: XML sitemap helps web crawlers easily find and index all the pages and posts on your website so that they can show up in a search engine result page. Similarly, there is the HTML sitemap which helps humans find a specific page/post on your site so that they can quickly navigate there.
